It reacts with ammonia to produce aminolysis, and the chlorine atom is replaced by amino. Sulfuryl chloride decomposes into SO2 and Cl2 at high temperature. Sulfonyl chloride is corrosive. Contact with water emits toxic hydrogen chloride and sulfide gas. Heating produces toxic sulfide and chloride fumes. The warehouse is ventilated, low temperature and dry.
